Women’s Volleyball Falls to No. 6 NYU in NCAA Tournament
ITHACA, N.Y- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to nationally-ranked New York University in the NCAA Tournament First Round Thursday afternoon at Ithaca College's Ben Light Gymnasium. The Violets entered the match as the top-seeded team in the Ithaca Regional while also ranked No. 6 in the AVCA National Poll.
THE BASICS:

Records: Lions (28-3) | Violets (30-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lions jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set, forcing the Violets to call an early timeout.
- NYU battled back to claim a 14-11 edge in the set after a 6-1 run and tallied the final three points of the frame to snag a 25-19 win.
- The Violets cruised to a 25-9 decision in the second set to widen the margin to 2-0.
- After NYU seized a 17-11 advantage, Eastern Nazarene rattled off a 12-5 run to capture a 23-22 lead in the third set.
- The Lions pushed the score to set-point four times before the Violets chalked up three consecutive points to secure a 32-30 win in the third frame to advance to the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) and Maria Clarabuch (Sant Cugat Del Valles, Spain) both notched 10 kills in the match.
- Andrea Aceituno (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 10 digs and six kills.
- Telma Zelaya (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) registered 27 assists.
- Shantte Siliezar (Puerto Cortes, Honduras) chipped in with five kills while Amanda Pierce (Johnston, R.I.) collected 10 digs and dealt three aces on the night.
- Haley Holz paced NYU with a match-high 15 kills and Lindsay Hirano recorded 13 digs.
