CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team absorbed a 3-0 loss to nationally-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology Friday evening in the NCAA Tournament first round.
The Lions finish the 2021 campaign with a 17-11 overall record with the result. The No. 18 Engineers improve to 27-3 on the year and advance to face Haverford in the NCAA Tournament second round.
Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) paced the visitors with six kills while Emma Graves (Berkshire, N.Y.) tallied five kills. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) notched 16 assists and five digs.
The home team captured the opening frame 25-14 to construct a 1-0 lead.
MIT doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-14 win in the second set.
The Engineers wrapped up their fifth-straight victory with a 25-16 decision in the third.
Consecrata Rozario and Alyssa Unell both registered eight kills for MIT. Emily Cheng posted 23 assists and Adrina Tang added 17 assists. Ottavia Personeni racked up a match-high 16 digs.
