
Women’s Volleyball Powers Past Mitchell on Senior Day
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team capped off the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Mitchell Saturday afternoon at Quincy High School.
The Lions improve to 15-10 on the season and 2-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the win. The Mariners sink to 6-15 overall and 1-2 in league action with the result.
With the victory, Eastern Nazarene secures the No. 2 seed in the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament and will host third-seeded Mitchell November 4 at the Lahue Athletic Center.
Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) racked up 23 kills to lead all players. Emma Graves (Berkshire, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 kills. Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) posted seven kills and eight digs. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 38 assists and 11 digs. Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) paced the squad with 16 digs on the day.
The home team cruised to a 25-13 win in the opening set to capture a 1-0 advantage.
Eastern Nazarene extended its lead to 2-0 with a 25-16 decision in the second frame.
The Lions triumphed 25-16 in the third to wrap up the regular season with a straight-sets victory
Olivia DeLoach led Mitchell with six kills while Molly Steel-Miller added five kills and Claire Binfield notched 17 assists.
After the conclusion of the match, the Eastern Nazarene women's volleyball program celebrated its four seniors: Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras), Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.), Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.), and Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.).
