Women’s Volleyball Breezes by Bay Path, Falls at Western New England Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 win at Bay Path before absorbing a 3-0 loss at Western New England Saturday.

The Lions move to 9-8 on the season with the results. The Wildcats slide to 4-10 overall while the Golden Bears improve to 7-7 on the year.

Emma Graves (Berkshire, N.Y.) paced the offense with 10 kills against Western New England. Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) notched eight kills while Telma Zelaya (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) tallied seven kills. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) dished out 29 assists versus the Golden Bears. Defensively, Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) recorded a team-high 14 digs and Samantha Thornton (Bartlett, Tenn.) collected 12 digs.

In its first match of the day, Eastern Nazarene blanked USCAA side Bay Path 3-0.

The visitors cruised to a 25-12 victory in the first set to notch a 1-0 lead.

The Lions extended their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-10 decision in the second.

Eastern Nazarene locked up its ninth win of the season after rolling past the Wildcats 25-9 in the third frame.

After the contest at Bay Path, Eastern Nazarene drove to Western New England. The Lions suffered a 3-0 setback to the Golden Bears.

The home team captured the opening set 25-20 to grab a 1-0 edge.

Western New England doubled its lead to 2-0 with a 25-19 victory in the second frame.

The Golden Bears edged the Lions 25-23 in the third to seal the sweep.

Up next, Eastern Nazarene will square off against Maine-Fort Kent October 6 at Starland Sportsplex in Hanover, Mass.
