Women’s Volleyball Earns Wins Over Husson, Colby-Sawyer Saturday

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team swept Husson 3-0 before downing Colby-Sawyer 3-1  at the Lahue Athletic Center Saturday afternoon to wrap up the 2021 ENC Invitational presented by Tony's House of Pizza.

The Lions improve to 4-5 on the year with the two victories. The Eagles dip to 2-4 overall while the Charges slide to 3-4 on the season.

Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.), Emma Graves (Berkshire, N.Y.), and Telma Zelaya (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) were all selected to the All-Tournament team.

Graves notched 29 kills on the day to lead the offense while adding seven blocks. Baran finished with 27 kills, 16 digs, and three aces. Zelaya recorded 74 assists, 15 digs, eight kills, and four service aces in the two matches.

Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with 20 digs, five aces, and 14 kills. Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) racked up 23 digs and Fiona Shaw (Whitinsville, Mass.) added 20 digs.

In the matinee match, Eastern Nazarene topped Husson in straight sets.

The Lions posted a 25-21 win in the first set to establish a 1-0 lead.

The home team doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-20 decision in the second set.

Eastern Nazarene locked up its second-straight victory with a 25-18 win in the third.

In the final tilt of the weekend, Eastern Nazarene collected a 3-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer.

The Lions chalked up a 25-22 win in the opening frame to claim a 1-0 edge.

The hosts cruised to a 25-16 victory in the second to widen the gap to 2-0.

The Chargers cut the deficit to 2-1 after prevailing 25-23 in the third set.

Eastern Nazarene bounced back to capture the fourth set 25-15 to earn its third win in a row.

Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene hosts Emmanuel September 14 before embarking on a seven-match road swing.
