Women’s Volleyball Falls at Wheaton in Season-Opener, 3-0
NORTON, Mass.- Returning to the court after a 516-day hiatus, the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback at Wheaton Wednesday evening.
The Lions dip to 0-1 on the year with the result while the Lyons improve to 1-0 overall.
Halle Julian (Hanson, Mass.) notched eight kills and seven digs on the night. Rebecca Thorne (Quincy, Mass.) added seven kills while Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) posted 16 digs and four kills. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) racked up 21 assists in the match.
The home team captured the first set 25-17 to grab a 1-0 edge before doubling its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-13 win in the second frame.
Wheaton cemented the straight-sets victory with a 25-14 decision in the third.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Gordon April 16 in the first home match of the season.
