Schmitt Welcomes Back Courtney McCarthy as Assistant Volleyball Coach
QUINCY, Mass.- Recent Eastern Nazarene College graduate Courtney McCarthy has returned to serve as an assistant coach with the Lions' men's and women's volleyball teams, announced Head Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach Derek Schmitt.
McCarthy wrapped up an illustrious four-year career with a conference title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2019. The Merrimack, New Hampshire native played a vital role in Eastern Nazarene's 2019 campaign which yielded the program's first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
A two-time All-NECC first team performer and NECC All-Tournament selection, she amassed 972 career kills and 890 digs in 101 career matches.
"I am extremely excited that Courtney will be around this year to serve as an assistant coach for Women's Volleyball as well as for Men's Volleyball. Courtney had terrific academic and volleyball careers at ENC and has a great understanding of ENC and both volleyball programs. I am confident she can use her recent experience at ENC to be a strong leader for the players of both programs. Courtney will be able to hit the ground running as she knows how we practice, the drills we run, how we use video of ourselves and upcoming opponents, and more. I enjoyed coaching Courtney for three years and now I'm looking forward to serving as Courtney's mentor as she gets into coaching," commented Schmitt.
McCarthy graduated from ENC in May with a degree in Biology and was a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree.
