
Women’s Volleyball Claims 3-2 Come-From-Behind Victory Over Plymouth State
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team knocked off previously-unbeaten Plymouth State Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions climb to 3-3 on the year with the victory while the Panthers fall to 9-1 overall.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) racked up 23 kills on the night and 16 digs. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) notched 13 kills, 12 digs, and three service aces. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 37 assists in the match. Amya Altman (Butler, Pa.) led the defensive effort with 17 digs while adding three aces.
The visitors jumped out to a 1-0 edge with a 25-21 win in the opening set before doubling their lead to 2-0 with a 25-19 decision in the second.
The home side battled back to cut the deficit 2-1 after capturing the third frame 25-20.
Eastern Nazarene pulled even with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set to force the decisive fifth frame.
The Lions capped off the comeback with a 15-10 decision in the fifth game to lock up their third-consecutive victory.
Lex Bowers paced Plymouth State with 16 kills while Francie Shaffer tallied 13 kills and Allie Rogers added 10.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host the ENC Classic presented by Tony's House of Pizza September 13 and 14.
