
Women’s Volleyball Powers Past Elms on Homecoming
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team blanked Elms 3-0 Saturday at the Lahue Physical Education Center on Homecoming in a pivotal conference matchup.
The Lions elevate to 14-5 on the season and move into a tie atop the NECC standings with a 5-0 league record. The Blazers fall to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play with their first league loss.
Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) posted 18 assists, 11 digs, eight kills, and three aces on the day. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) registered eight kills and seven digs. Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills and three blocks. McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) paced the team defensively with 13 digs.
The home side raced out to a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-16 win in the opening set.
Eastern Nazarene doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a repeat 25-16 victory in the second.
The Lions capped off the win with a 25-19 decision in the third frame to remain unbeaten in conference competition.
Danielle Redding led Elms with nine kills while Ayanna Meadows added eight kills and 10 digs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene visits Newbury October 17.
