Aguilar’s Triple-Double Leads Women’s Volleyball to 3-0 Victory at Becker
LEICESTER, Mass.- Rookie Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) posted her second triple-double of the year to power the Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win at Becker Saturday.
The Lions improve to 10-3 on the season and 2-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the victory. The Hawks fall to 5-5 overall and 0-1 in league play with the setback.
Aguilar recorded 12 kills, 12 digs, and 11 assists to notch her second triple-double of the 2018 campaign while also adding a team-high six aces. Halle Julian (Whitman, Mass.) collected seven kills and three total blocks on the day. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with 18 digs and five kills. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 20 assists and McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) notched 21 digs.
After an 8-8 tie in the first set, the visitors outscored the home side 17-2 to capture the opening frame 25-10.
Eastern Nazarene utilized a late 14-1 run to prevail 25-11 in the second set and widen the margin to 2-0.
The Lions edged Becker 25-23 in a tightly-contested third game to clinch their second conference win of the season.
Gillian Criddle paced the Hawks with six kills in the match while Sofia Cullina chipped in with 20 digs and four kills.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns to the Lahue Physical Education Center to take on Rivier October 4.
