
Women’s Volleyball Blanks Bay Path in League-Opener
EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 victory at Bay Path in the program's first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match Saturday.
The Lions climb to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win. The Wildcats fall to 4-7 on the season and 0-1 in the league with the result.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) tallied a team-best 11 kills and added nine digs. Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) posted 11 assists, nine kills, three aces, and three digs on the day. Samantha Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 13 assists while Jessica Caldwell (Quincy, Mass.) collected 13 digs and McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) chipped in with nine digs and three service aces.
Eastern Nazarene established a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-16 win in the opening set.
The Lions extended their advantage to 2-0 after edging Bay Path 25-21 in the second frame.
Eastern Nazarene locked up its first conference victory with a 25-16 decision in the third.
Lydia Clifford paced the Wildcats with five kills while Joanne Nazario finished with nine digs.
