
Women’s Volleyball Drops Midweek Match to Gordon, 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team fell to Gordon 3-0 Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions move to 10-15 overall and 1-5 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the outcome. The Fighting Scots improve to 12-10 overall and 3-4 in league play with the win.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) paced the home team with 12 kills and added eight digs. Hailee Owen (South Portland, Maine) finished with four kills and three blocks. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) notched 19 assists, a pair of digs, and one ace. McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) posted a team-best nine digs in the match.
The visitors claimed the opening set 25-16 to build up a 1-0 lead.
Gordon earned a 25-17 win in the second frame to widen the margin to 2-0.
The Fighting Scots prevailed 25-19 in the third to clinch the victory and snap a three-match skid.
McKenzie Hinds recorded 11 kills to lead Gordon while Amanda Snyder chipped in with 10 kills and seven digs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to the Ocean State to face Roger Williams October 21.
