Women’s Volleyball Absorbs Loss to Curry, Bounces Back to Top Bay Path

MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to league foe Curry before rebounding to defeat Bay Path 3-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Curry College's Katz Gymnasium.

The Lions move to 7-8 on the season with the results and 0-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Colonels improve to 6-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play while the Wildcats progress to 5-4 on the year.

Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) posted 32 kills on the day to go with 11 digs and four aces. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) finished with 21 digs, seven kills, and four aces. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) dished out 55 assists in the two matches while adding 16 digs. Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) racked up nine service aces, 12 digs, and seven kills on the afternoon.

In the tri-match opener, Eastern Nazarene fell to the host institution in a conference clash 3-1.

The Lions edged the Colonels 27-25 in a closely-contested first set.

Curry leveled the match with a 25-17 win in the second frame.

The home team clinched its second league victory of the season after claiming the third and fourth games by identical 25-19 scores.

Eastern Nazarene capped off its afternoon with a 3-1 win over Bay Path.

The Lions rolled to a 25-18 victory in the opening set before narrowly prevailing 25-23 in the second game.

The Wildcats cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 25-16 decision in the third.

Eastern Nazarene responded with a 25-15 victory in the fourth frame to seal the win.

Looking ahead, the Lions travel to Nichols September 26 for a crucial Commonwealth Coast Conference showdown.
