
Women’s Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Suffolk
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Suffolk Tuesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions slip to 3-6 on the season while the Rams improve to 2-3 overall with the result.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) notched a team-best 16 kills in the match while also collecting eight digs. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) finished with 15 digs and 13 kills on the night. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) racked up 36 assists while Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) and McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) both recorded 11 digs.
The visitors claimed an early 1-0 lead with a 25-20 win in the first set.
The home side battled back to narrowly prevail in the second frame 25-23 to even the match at 1-1.
Eastern Nazarene jumped ahead 2-1 with a 25-21 decision in the third game.
Suffolk stormed back to capture the fourth set 25-11 before taking the fifth frame 15-8 to clinch the victory.
Hannah Fabiano paced the Rams with 14 kills and 21 digs in the contest while Talia Lombardo chipped in with 14 digs and six kills.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene looks to snap its five-match skid as it returns to the court September 14 to host the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
