Women’s Volleyball Drops Matches to UMass-Dartmouth, Lasell Saturday

AUBURNDALE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team absorbed a pair of non-conference losses Saturday afternoon at Lasell, falling to UMass-Dartmouth 3-1 and Lasell 3-0.

The Lions sink to 3-5 on the year with the results. The Corsairs progress to 3-2 on the season while the Lasers move to 3-4 overall.

Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) paced Eastern Nazarene with 27 kills, 23 digs, and four aces on the day. Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) finished with 15 kills and 35 digs while McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) collected 26 digs in the two matches. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) notched 51 assists and added 17 digs.

In its opening match, Eastern Nazarene suffered a 3-1 setback to UMass-Dartmouth.

The Corsairs claimed the first set 25-16 before the Lions clawed back with a 25-21 win in the second to level the match at 1-1.

UMass-Dartmouth edged Eastern Nazarene 26-24 in the third and clinched the victory with a 25-19 decision in the fourth frame.

The Lions wrapped up the tri-match with a 3-0 loss to the hosts.

Lasell prevailed in a tightly-contested first set 25-23 and cruised to a 25-12 victory in the second set to widen the gap to 2-0.

The Lasers sealed the win with a 25-21 decision in the third game.

Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns to the Lahue Physical Education Center to host Suffolk September 12.
