
Women’s Volleyball Tripped Up at Emmanuel, 3-0
BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Emmanuel Thursday evening in non-conference action.
The Lions slide to 3-3 on the season with the loss while the Saints improve to 1-3 overall.
Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with a team-high five kills while adding 10 digs on the night. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) recorded 13 assists and seven digs in the match. McKenzie Walling (Rock Hill, S.C.) notched 11 digs and one ace while Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.) also chipped in with 11 digs.
The home team prevailed 25-17 in the opening set to grab a 1-0 edge.
Emmanuel stretched its lead to 2-0 with a 25-14 win in the second frame.
The Saints clinched their first victory of the season after edging the Lions 25-20 in the third.
Marissa Cataldo paced the hosts with nine kills and Carly Church posted 21 assists.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene heads to Lasell for a tri-match with UMass-Dartmouth September 9.
