
Volleyball Absorbs 3-1 Setback at Rhode Island College
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road at Rhode Island College Thursday evening.
The Lions fall to 7-12 overall while the Anchorwomen rise to 1-16 on the year with the result.
Senior Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) knocked down 18 kills to lead the visitors while adding 10 digs. Sophomore Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) finished the match with 12 kills and six digs.
Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) contributed with eight kills and 16 digs on the night. Vanessa Pascal (Marlborough, Mass.) registered a team-high 20 digs for Eastern Nazarene.
Rookie Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) notched 37 assists and seven digs in the contest.
The Lions captured the opening set 25-18 to grab a 1-0 lead. Rhode Island College rallied to claim the last three games to secure its first win of the season.
The home team knotted the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 decision in the second before edging Eastern Nazarene 25-23 in the third. The Anchorwomen closed out the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth game.
Up next, the Lions return home to host a tri-match October 5. Eastern Nazarene will take on Suffolk in the opening contest before battling the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in the third match of the day.
