Clinkscale’s Double-Double Powers Volleyball Past Newbury, 3-1
BROOKLINE, Mass.- Senior Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) racked up 17 kills and 18 digs to lead the Eastern Nazarene volleyball team to a 3-1 non-league win at Newbury Thursday evening at Hellenic College.
The win lifts the Lions to 5-7 on the season while the Nighthawks fall to 6-7 overall.
Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) also recorded a double-double in the victory, adding 12 kills and 10 digs for the visitors. Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) finished the match with nine digs and nine kills.
Defensively, Vanessa Pascal (Marlborough, Mass.) tallied 20 digs and Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) recorded 12 in the contest.
Rookie setter Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) dished out 40 assists on the night.
Eastern Nazarene notched back-to-back 25-21 victories to race out to a two-set lead. Newbury battled back to edge the Lions in the third set 25-23.
The visitors responded with a 25-16 decision in the fourth to pick up their third-straight win.
Courtney Banks paced the Nighthawks with 19 kills in the match.
