Volleyball Posts 3-1 Wins Over Anna Maria, Daniel Webster

PAXTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene volleyball team captured a pair of 3-1 victories Saturday, topping Daniel Webster and host Anna Maria. The Lions elevate to 4-7 overall with the two wins. The Eagles drop to 1-4 while the AMCats progress to 5-3.

Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) paced Eastern Nazarene with 24 kills and 21 digs on the day. Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) contributed with 21 kills, 25 digs and four blocks. Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) posted 17 kills and 17 digs in the two matches.

Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) added 12 kills, 29 digs and a team-best seven aces. Rookie setter Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) registered 72 assists, 21 digs and four service aces. Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) finished with 10 kills and a team-high five total blocks.

Libero Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) recorded 13 digs on the afternoon and Vanessa Pascal (Marlborough, Mass.) notched five aces.

The Lions downed Anna Maria in the opening match. The visitors breezed through the first set 25-10 before claiming the second 25-21. After the AMCats prevailed 25-20 in the third, Eastern Nazarene secured the win with a 25-17 decision in the fourth.

In the second match of the day, the Lions dropped the first game 25-18 and bounced back with a 25-12 victory in the second to knot the match at 1-1. Eastern Nazarene edged Daniel Webster 27-25 in the third and 25-23 in the fourth to earn the win.

Day led the Lions with 13 kills in the first match of the day while Clinkscale chipped in with 10. In the second contest of the afternoon, Clinkscale and Day each finished with 11 kills.
