Volleyball Swept at Salve Regina, 3-0
NEWPORT, R.I. - The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team endured a 3-0 loss at Salve Regina Tuesday evening at the Rogers Recreational Center.
NEWPORT, R.I. - The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team endured a 3-0 loss at Salve Regina Tuesday evening at the Rogers Recreational Center. The loss drops the Lions to 10-10 overall and 1-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks jump to 10-6 on the year and 4-1 in league action with the win.
The hosts claimed a 1-0 lead with a 25-18 decision in the opening set. In the second set, Eastern Nazarene was edged 26-24 as Salve Regina extended its lead to 2-0.
The Seahawks closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the third set to notch their 10th win of the season.
The Lions were led by Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) with eight kills while adding six digs. Rookie Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) contributed seven kills and a team-high 16 digs on the night. Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) and Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) each tallied six kills for the visitors.
Kori Sorenson (Quincy, Mass.) chipped in with 15 digs in the match. Birdina Tuiava (Colorado Springs, Colo.) registered 26 assists for Eastern Nazarene.
Salve Regina was paced by Jennifer Duggan and Katelyn Beauregard with 16 and 10 kills, respectively. Megan Clancy picked up 21 digs for the home side.
Up next, the Lions will host Rhode Island College October 4 at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
