Volleyball Drops Five-Setter at Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. - The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 setback at Emmanuel Thursday evening in non-conference action. The Lions slip to 10-7 on the season while the Saints rise to 5-12 overall.
The hosts claimed a 25-9 victory in the opening set but Eastern Nazarene responded by prevailing 25-22 and 25-23 in the second and third to grab a 2-1 lead.
Emmanuel knotted the match at 2-2 with a 25-17 decision in the fourth frame to force a decisive fifth set. The Saints edged the Lions 15-12 in the final stanza to pick up their fifth victory of the season.
Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) paced Eastern Nazarene with 11 kills in the match. Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) chipped in with 10 kills and 16 digs on the night.
Birdina Tuiava (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded 30 assists for the Lions while adding 12 digs. Kori Sorenson (Quincy, Mass.) led Eastern Nazarene defensively as she racked up 19 digs. Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) and Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) tallied 11 and nine digs, respectively.
Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) posted a team-best four blocks for the Lions in the contest. Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) served up a match-high six aces.
Danielle Rose registered 14 kills to lead Emmanuel on the night.
