Women’s Tennis Receives ITA Team Academic Award; Six Named ITA Scholar-Athletes
SKILLMAN, N.J.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for its success away from the courts.
The Lions were one of 206 NCAA Division III women's tennis programs nationwide and one of four Commonwealth Coast Conference teams to earn the ITA Team Academic Award.
The ITA Team Academic Award is available to any collegiate program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.), Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.), Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine), Bethany Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.), Jordan Price (Snow Hill, Md.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) were all tabbed ITA Scholar-Athletes.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must meet be a varsity letter winner, possess a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
Burrello, Lariviere, Mohnkern and Price were also named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Academic Team in January.
A total of 1,361 NCAA Division III women's tennis players were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2014-15 academic year.
