Women’s Tennis Blanked at UMass-Boston, 9-0
BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at UMass-Boston in the final non-conference match of the season Thursday.
The Lions sink to 2-6 on the fall while the Beacons rise to 1-3 overall with the win.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) fell at the No. 1 doubles spot 8-4 to Kristy Garcia and Martina Daelli.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) dropped an 8-1 decision to Logan Smith and Kelsey Shea at the second doubles position.
Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Bethany Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.) absorbed an 8-3 loss in the third doubles match to Kathleen Conroy and Vicky Woytowicz.
At the top singles slot, Steelman was dealt a 6-4, 6-0 loss by Garcia. Burrello endured a 6-2, 6-1 setback to Daelli at the No. 2 singles position.
Cressman fell 6-2, 6-2 at the third singles match to Smith while Tubbs dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Shea at the fourth spot. Lariviere suffered a 6-2, 6-3 loss at the fifth singles slot to Conroy.
In the No. 6 singles match, Mohnkern was edged 7-4 in a second-set tiebreaker after conceding the opening set 6-2 to Nurcin Celebi.
