Women’s Soccer Falls to Westfield State on Senior Night

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team absorbed a 10-1 loss to Westfield State Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.


THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 1, Westfield State 10
Records: Lions (1-8-3) | Owls (8-5-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Westfield State netted seven goals in the first frame to hold a 7-0 advantage at the intermission.
  • The Owls added three tallies in the second stanza to stretch their lead to 10-0.
  • Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the 87th minute. Rookie Rylan Tinjum (Castle Rock, Colo.) notched her first collegiate goal, knocking in a free kick delivered into the box by Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.).     


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Between the pipes, Sabrina Nassar (Suwanee, Ga.) recorded four saves in the first half and Mackenzie Quick (Barrington, N.H.) made two saves in the second half.
  • The Lions registered six shots while the Owls finished with 27 attempts in the match.
  • Jordan Lee (Hampden, Mass.) and Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) each fired two shots on the night.


SENIOR NIGHT:
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer program recognized its seniors: Kenna Cruise (Fairhaven, Mass.), Bia de Oliveira Segato (Malden, Mass.), Danielle Gilling (Bridgeport, Conn.), Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.), and Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho).

Eastern Nazarene treks to SUNY Canton October 14 for a pivotal North Atlantic Conference contest.
