
Women’s Soccer Bests Bay Path on Senior Night, 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team posted a crucial 3-0 victory over Bay Path Saturday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions climb to 3-10-1 on the year and 2-4-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the win. The Wildcats move to 8-7-0 overall and 2-4-0 in league action with the result.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer program honored its two seniors: Michaela Connors (Norwell, Mass.) and Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.).
The home team snagged an early 1-0 lead, opening the scoring in the fifth minute. Diamond Best (Danvers, Mass.) netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season while Victoria Hern (Salem, N.H.) picked up her first assist of the fall.
Eastern Nazarene widened the margin to 2-0 in the 42nd minute. Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) buried her third marker of the year with a right-footed shot at the top of the six-yard box after a pass from Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.).
The Lions carried a 2-0 advantage into the halftime intermission despite the visitors owning a 10-7 edge in first-half shots.
The hosts tacked on a score in the 81st minute to push their lead to 3-0. Sam Baston (Carver, Mass.) found the back of the net for her second tally of the season as she knocked in her own rebound.
Eastern Nazarene fired 19 shots in the contest while Bay Path finished with 14 attempts.
Senior Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) notched seven saves in her 11th start of the season to earn the shutout.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to New England College October 30 to wrap up the regular season.
