
Women’s Soccer Upended by Becker 3-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team endured a 3-0 loss to Becker Monday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions slide to 1-7-1 on the season and 0-2-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the setback. The Hawks climb to 4-5-2 overall and 1-1-0 in conference action with the win.
The visitors tallied an early goal to seize a 1-0 edge in the fifth minute. Chelsea Sedar floated a right-footed effort into the far left post to collect her second goal of the season while Kristen Beidleman picked up the assist on the game's opening score.
Becker doubled its advantage to 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Kyra Teixeira knocked in a cross from the left flank by Shannon Kelley to notch her eighth marker of the fall.
Eastern Nazarene managed four shots in the first frame while the Hawks manufactured 12 attempts.
The guests tacked on their third goal of the night in the 81st minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Mariposa Nash-Gibney poked in a loose ball inside the box to net her first tally of the season.
The Lions concluded the contest with seven shots and one corner kick earned. Becker produced 26 shot attempts and earned six corners in the match.
Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) registered five shots in the game while Sam Baston (Carver, Mass.) fired a pair.
Senior netminder Griselda Minchaca (Whitter, Calif.) posted seven saves in her sixth start of the year.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene continues conference play with its third-straight home match October 5 against Mitchell.
