MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team fell at Curry 2-1 in a key conference contest Saturday evening.
The Lions sink to 5-7-0 on the year and 0-4-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Colonels improve to 8-3-3 overall and 1-1-2 in league play with the win.
The guests grabbed a goal in the 37th minute to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Kennedy Dowling (Nashua, N.H.) buried her first marker of the season with a left-footed strike to the lower left corner of the cage off of a feed from Kyndall Fry (Tampa, Fla.).
Eastern Nazarene sported a 1-0 advantage at the midway point of the match after outshooting Curry 5-2 in the opening 45 minutes.
The Colonels scored the equalizer in the 55th minute to pull even at 1-1. Haley Wells netted her first goal of the year as she knocked in a rebound after Cassandra Grasso's header hit the post.
The hosts captured a one-goal edge in the 72nd minute as Isabella Shields found the back of the net with a direct free kick to pick up her second tally of the season.
The Lions finished the game with 11 shots while Curry attempted 13 on the night.
Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) fired a team-high three shots in the contest while Diamond Best (Danvers, Mass.) and Dowling each notched two efforts.
Sophomore Michaela Connors (Norwell, Mass.) recorded three saves in her fourth goalkeeping appearance of the season.
