EAST BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team absorbed a 1-0 loss to Suffolk Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium.
The Lions slide to 0-2-0 on the fall while the Rams improve to 1-1-0 overall with the outcome.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes of play with Eastern Nazarene holding a 9-4 advantage in first-half shot attempts.
The home team broke the scoreless deadlock in the 85th minute to claim a 1-0 lead late in the match. Alexandra Nagri buried her first goal of the season and Jessica Harmon and Madelyn Whipple each picked up assists.
The Lions finished the contest with 18 shots while Suffolk fired 10 on the day. Junior Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded a team-best six shot attempts in the game, including three on frame.
Rookie Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) made nine saves between the pipes in her first start of the year. Kristen Weiker stopped all eight shots she faced in goal for the Rams.
Eastern Nazarene returns to action September 7 as it travels to the Ocean State to battle Johnson & Wales.
