MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team battled Curry to a 2-2 tie Wednesday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.
The Lions move to 5-6-3 on the season and 2-3-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Colonels progress to 12-4-1 overall and 2-4-1 in league action.
Eastern Nazarene established an early 1-0 lead, opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) buried her sixth goal of the season off of an assist by Alexis Schmidt (North Smithfield, R.I.).
Curry leveled the match at 1-1 in the 31st minute on a strike by Kaitlyn Lima, her league-leading 12th of the year.
The visitors held a narrow edge in shots through 45 minutes, 13-12.
The Lions regained a one-goal advantage just 34 seconds into the second stanza, 2-1. Libby Nyquist (Barre, Vt.) setup Lawrence for her second tally of the game.
The Colonels tied the score at 2-2 in the 69th minute. Korinna Tsonis netted her 11th goal of the season and Taylor Evans picked up the assist.
The two teams combined to attempt 64 total shots on the afternoon with Eastern Nazarene firing 25 and Curry recording 39.
Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) racked up a career-best 24 saves in the match. Christina Chiofalo stopped 13 shots between the pipes for the home team.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to the University of New England October 24.
