NORTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team was dealt a 3-0 loss at Wheaton Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 0-2-1 on the season with the outcome while the Lyons remain undefeated at 3-0-0 overall.
The hosts got on the board in the 12th minute to snag a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Megan Healy booted home her first collegiate goal off of a feed from Julia Cipriano.
Wheaton hung onto the one-goal edge at the half after outshooting Eastern Nazarene 17-2 in the opening 45 minutes of action.
The Lyons doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the 59th minute as rookie Kaylee Sye notched her first career marker and Aunyes Hermantin picked up her first assist of the season.
Wheaton increased the margin to 3-0 in the 76th minute on Cipriano's third tally of the season as she converted a penalty kick.
The Lions finished with just two shots in the match. The home side peppered the visitors with 35 shots, including 14 on frame and four attempts off the woodwork.
Melodie Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Alexis Schmidt (North Smithfield, R.I.) each fired one shot on goal for Eastern Nazarene.
Senior goalkeeper Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) recorded 11 saves on the day for the guests.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene kicks off its conference slate September 12 at Nichols.
