KANSAS CITY, Kan.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the fourth consecutive season, announced by the organization Tuesday.
The NSCAA annually recognizes college soccer programs that excel in the classroom and on the pitch. The Lions were one of seven Commonwealth Coast Conference programs honored and one of 582 collegiate women's soccer teams nationwide to receive the award for posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2013-14 academic year.
Eastern Nazarene finished the 2014 campaign with a 9-10-2 overall record and a 6-3-0 league mark.
The Lions claimed the program's highest-ever finish in the conference standings, grabbing third place.
Eastern Nazarene reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference semifinals for the second time in the past three years. The Lions edged Western New England in a shootout before falling to Wentworth in penalty kicks in the semifinals.
Eastern Nazarene was also selected to its second-straight ECAC Tournament. The Lions suffered a first-round loss at Framingham State in overtime.
