Scahill’s Hat Trick Lifts Women’s Soccer to 4-1 Win at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I.- Sophomore Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) found the back of the net three times as the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team secured its first conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Salve Regina 4-1.

The Lions jump to 4-6-0 on the year with a 1-1-0 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks slide to 2-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in league play with the loss.

The visitors got on the board less than six minutes into the match as Scahill buried her first goal of the game and fourth of the season 5:47 after kickoff for a 1-0 edge.

Eastern Nazarene doubled its advantage to 2-0 in the 31st minute. Scahill scored her second tally of the contest and fifth of the fall to widen the gap.

The Lions carried the 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission while finishing the half with a narrow margin in shots, 7-6.

The guests tacked on their third score of the game in the 71st minute. Senior Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) netted her first goal of the year while classmate Sam Williams (Forest Hill, Md.) collected her second assist.

Eastern Nazarene pushed its lead to four goals in the 85th minute as Scahill completed the hat trick with her sixth marker of the season. The three-goal effort marked the sophomore's second career hat trick for the Lions.

Salve Regina responded with a goal in the 87th minute to erase the shutout. Taylor Meyers scored off of feeds by Lauren Bulk and Jessica Broadhurst.

Eastern Nazarene recorded 11 shots in the win while earning a pair of corner kicks. The Seahawks attempted 14 shots on the day and picked up three corners.

Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) made a career-high 10 saves in the match for the Lions. Emily Cuellar stopped four shots in goal for the hosts.
