Women’s Soccer’s Comeback Bid Falls Short at Regis Tuesday

WESTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback at Regis Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
The Lions dip to 3-5-0 overall with the result while the Pride improves to 2-2-1 on the year.
Regis got on the board in the 14th minute as Joana Rosa netted her third of the season to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
The Pride controlled a 1-0 advantage on the scoreboard at the midway point of the game.
The guests produced seven shots in the first frame while Regis recorded six first-half attempts.
The Pride added a goal in the 73rd minute as Tais Salles latched onto the end of a through-ball by Jasmin Vivar before firing a shot into the back of the net, pushing the lead to 2-0.
The Lions bounced back to cut the deficit in half, 2-1, less than a minute later. Sam Williams (Forest Hill, Md.) hammered a left-footed shot into the left corner of the cage from the top of the box for her first tally of the season.
Eastern Nazarene outshot Regis 17-7 on the night and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks earned.
Junior Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) made four saves in goal for the Lions in the contest. Rachel Gagnon stopped seven shots in net for the hosts.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns home to take on Johnson & Wales September 18 at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 4:30 pm.
