Women’s Soccer Adds Gabriella Schmidt to Incoming Group
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene women's soccer head coach Stephen Hamilton has announced the addition of Gabriella Schmidt to the program's class of 2018.
Schmidt is a striker from Rochester, New York where she attends Rush-Henrietta High School.
Schmidt helped the Royal Comets post their first winning-season in 16 years and a berth to the sectional playoffs. Her squad rebounded from a 1-16 mark to achieve a 9-7-2 record the following season.
She tallied one goal and added a pair of assists in her senior year for the Royal Comets.
Schmidt suffered a torn ACL at the end of her freshman year. She persevered through hardships during her recovery to battle back to return to the pitch stronger mentally and physically.
She also plays at the club level for Doug Miller Soccer.
"I am excited to attend Eastern Nazarene in the fall! I've always loved the city of Boston and ENC couldn't be more of a perfect fit for me. I am beyond thrilled for the opportunity to study and to play soccer here. I cannot wait to see how much spiritual and intellectual growth I will experience," said Schmidt.
"By all accounts, Gabriella shouldn't be playing competitively anymore. The injuries she has dealt with should have sidelined her permanently. Thankfully, God had other plans. I can't wait to have her with us because I know she's been to the very bottom and back. The normal struggles that young players go through are not even going to bother her. That resolve is what excites me about Gabie and I can't wait for everyone else to see that in action," commented Hamilton.
Schmidt joins Kelly Couite, Kirah Carney, and Gentry Miller as the Lions' class of 2018.
