Women’s Soccer Endures 3-0 Setback at Endicott
BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team absorbed a 3-0 loss on the road at Endicott Tuesday afternoon.
The result drops the Lions to 8-6-0 on the season and 1-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Gulls improve to 9-5-1 overall with a 4-1-0 mark in league games.
Endicott got on the board in the eighth minute to claim a 1-0 lead. Madison Missinne buried her third goal of the year, firing a shot from the left side of the penalty box into the right corner of the cage.
The hosts doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the 21st minute. Ashley Mueskes slotted a through-ball behind the Eastern Nazarene backline intended for Jessica Joseph. Joseph corralled the pass and tucked a shot into the lower left corner of the goal for her third tally of the fall.
The Lions owned a 6-5 edge in shots through 45 minutes of action while Endicott picked up the lone corner kick of the opening period.
The Gulls padded their lead in the 52nd minute, tacking on their third goal of the match. Laurya Wysocki rifled home her fourth of the season, finishing a corner kick service from Mueskes.
Eastern Nazarene finished the game with a slight 15-14 margin in shots in the contest, including an 8-5 edge in shots on frame. The Lions also held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks earned on the day.
Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) and Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) each registered a team-high four shots in the game. Speno led all players with four shots on the afternoon.
Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) turned aside two shots in the contest for the visitors. Katie Donnelly recorded eight saves in goal for Endicott.
