
Women’s Soccer Kicks Off CCC Slate with 3-1 Victory at Curry

MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team prevailed in its first Commonwealth Coast Conference match of the season, downing Curry 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Lions jump to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the league with the win. The Colonels fall to 5-2 on the year and 1-1 in conference play.
Freshman Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) tallied a pair of goals in a 12 second span of time.
Scahill gave Eastern Nazarene a 1-0 edge just 8:48 into the contest, finishing a feed from Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.).
The rookie striker netted her team-best ninth marker of the season 12 seconds later, burying an unassisted goal with 36 minutes remaining in the first half.
Curry cut the deficit in half in the 14th minute as Kaitlyn Lima scored to draw the hosts closer, 2-1.
The Lions held a 16-2 gap in first-half shots while the Colonels earned both corner kicks awarded.
Eastern Nazarene tacked on its third goal of the game in the 68th minute as Speno set up Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) for her sixth tally of the year.
The Lions finished the match with a 29-4 advantage in shots after outshooting Curry 13-2 in the second period.
Sophomore Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) registered one save between the pipes for the visitors.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will battle Becker September 25 in non-conference action at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
