Women’s Soccer Holds Off Johnson & Wales, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team notched its fourth-straight shutout Thursday evening, blanking Johnson & Wales 1-0 on the road.

The Lions improve to 6-1-0 on the year with the victory while the Wildcats slip to 2-3-1 overall.

Freshman Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) tallied the lone goal of the match in the 39th minute. The rookie blasted a shot past the home team's goalkeeper from inside the penalty box. Lawrence's unassisted score marked her fifth of the season.

The opening 45 minutes of play were closely contested as each squad registered three shots. Eastern Nazarene held a 3-2 edge in shots on goal in the first frame.

The Lions defense kept the Johnson & Wales attack at bay, allowing just four shots in the second half.

Eastern Nazarene managed five shots in the second stanza but was unable to add an insurance tally.

Junior Sam Williams (Forest Hill, Md.) fired a team-best three shots on the night.

Sophomore netminder Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) finished the match with six saves en route to registering her third clean sheet of the year.

The Lions have not allowed a goal since September 7, a 3-1 victory over Husson. Eastern Nazarene's shutout-streak spans over four contests as the team has logged 412:30 of scoreless defense.
