
Women’s Soccer Set to Host First-Ever Playoff Match Saturday
QUINCY, Mass. – By earning the No. 4 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament, the Eastern Nazarene women’s soccer team will host its first-ever home playoff match Saturday, October 27.

The Lions will take on the University of New England, the fifth-seeded team, at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 4 pm.
Eastern Nazarene battled the Nor'easters to a 1-1 draw in the regular-season finale October 23. Sophomore Amelia Gonzales (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) netted her first goal of the season in the 51st minute to knot the contest at 1-1.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular-season with an 8-7-3 overall record and a 5-2-2 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The University of New England owns a 7-10-1 record heading into the postseason and posted a 5-3-1 mark in league play this fall.
The Lions are led by sophomore Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) with 21 points on nine goals and three assists. Her 21 points rank her third in the conference. Speno has notched five game-winners this season for the Lions, good for second in the league.
Sophomore Tina Corey (Canterbury, Conn.) ranks second on the team with seven points on three goals and one helper. Lauren Avery (Colrain, Mass.), Cara Reiley (North Andover, Mass.) and Sam Williams (Forest Hill, Md.) have all tallied a pair of goals and one assist this fall.
In goal, freshman Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) sports an 8-3-3 record with four shutouts and a 0.93 goals-against average.
Last season, the Lions reached the CCC playoffs as the sixth-seeded squad. Eastern Nazarene suffered a 2-1 double-overtime loss at third-seeded Salve Regina in the quarterfinals.
