
Speno’s OT Strike Propels Women’s Soccer Past Becker, 2-1

The Lions leap to 3-5-2 overall with the win while the Hawks flutter to 3-3-2 on the year.
The visitors dominated the opening frame as they held a 10-3 advantage in shots after 45 minutes of play.
Eastern Nazarene broke through in the 60th minute to grab a 1-0 edge. Tina Corey (Canterbury, Conn.) potted her first tally of the season to push the Lions ahead by a score. The sophomore dispossessed a defender before sending a shot past the diving goalkeeper.
Becker leveled the contest at 1-1 in the 66th minute as Caroline Plunkett found the back of the net. The goal halted Eastern Nazarene's shutout streak at 465:30 as it was the first marker allowed by the Lions in five matches.
The visitors owned a 22-9 margin in shots at the end of regulation. Both sides earned three corner kicks in the opening 90 minutes.
Eastern Nazarene secured its third victory of the season just 3:49 into the extra session as Speno netted her team-leading third goal of the year, beating the Hawks' goalkeeper on a breakaway.
Rookie Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) registered three saves in goal for the Lions on the day en route to picking up her third win of the year between the pipes.
Eastern Nazarene concluded the match with 24 shots after firing the only two shots in the overtime period.
The Lions will remain on the road as they return to CCC action September 29 at Western New England.
