Alondra Jimenez Named NECC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Senior Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-NECC Team, as the league office announced its end-of-season awards Wednesday. Junior Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) represented the Lions on the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
Jimenez paced the conference with 16.5 points per game and ranked fifth in the league with 7.8 rebounds per contest. She ranked sixth in NCAA Division III with 6.0 assists and also led the NECC with 2.9 steals per game this season. Jimenez shot a conference-best 39.8% from beyond the arc this year.
In league contest, Jimenez averaged 19.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
She scored in double-figures in 20 of the 22 games in which she appeared. Jimenez notched seven double-doubles on the year and also registered a triple-double in a victory over Nichols.
Walker was one of just two players to start all 24 games this season for the Lions. She averaged 14.0 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest.
Eastern Nazarene posted a 10-14 overall record during the regular season and finished with a 4-2 mark in the NECC. The Lions earned the No. 2 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host third-seeded New England College in the semifinals February 23.
