Women’s Basketball Collects 65-50 Win at Becker
LEICESTER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team picked up a 65-50 victory at Becker Saturday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 7-2 overall with the win while the Hawks fall to 0-6 on the season.
Courtney Barba (Pismo Beach, Calif.) poured in a game-high 20 points to lead the visitors' offense. Alondra Jimenez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) tallied nine points off the bench and registered three steals. Nahatabaa Nacona (Chinle, Ariz.) finished with eight boards, five points, four assists, and three steals on the day. Seniesha Sekaquaptewa (Second Mesa, Ariz.) and Delaney Walker (Nampa, Idaho) each contributed with six points.
Eastern Nazarene established an 18-7 advantage through 10 minutes of action.
The Lions touted a 10-point lead at the half, 30-20, after shooting 55% from the floor and 57.1% from behind the arc in the opening two quarters. Becker was limited to a field-goal percentage of 26% in the first half while connecting on 3-of-11 from downtown.
The guests generated 23 points in the third period and held the home team to 12 points to boast a 21-point margin heading into the final frame, 53-32.
Eastern Nazarene managed 12 points in the fourth quarter and the Hawks chalked up 18 as the Lions cemented their seventh victory of the campaign.
Eastern Nazarene wrapped up the contest with a season-best field-goal percentage of 46.8% to go with six treys on 13 attempts. Becker shot 28.6% from the floor and 26.3% from three-point range on the afternoon.
Jazlyn Contreras and Chloe LaPierre both scored 18 points in the game to lead the Hawks.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to the hardwood March 26 to host Wentworth.
