Women’s Basketball Coasts to 86-47 Win at Lesley
MEDFORD, Mass.- All 14 players contributed on the offensive end of the court as the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team cruised to an 86-47 victory at Lesley Saturday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 15-7 on the year and 10-5 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the lopsided-win. The Lynx fall to 1-21 overall and 1-15 in conference play with the result.
Kyra Fleharty (Lewistown, Mont.) poured in 23 points on an efficient shooting performance as she knocked down 8-of-9 field-goal attempts, including a 4-for-4 effort from beyond the arc and a 3-for-3 clip from the charity stripe. Emma Farrow (Blanchester, Ohio) and Shaylee Todani (Wahiawa, Hawaii) each tallied eight points off the bench. Shannon Chau (San Francisco, Calif.) notched five points and collected a team-high six boards.
The two squads split the game's opening 10 points as the home side pulled even at 5-5 on a three-pointer by Theresa Pereira with 6:38 left to play in the first quarter.
Eastern Nazarene chalked up seven consecutive points to claim a 14-8 advantage with less than four minutes remaining in the opening period.
The Lions held a narrow 18-14 edge at the conclusion of the first quarter.
The visitors opened the second frame with seven-straight points from Fleharty to extend their lead to 25-14.
Eastern Nazarene sported a 43-30 advantage at the midway point of the contest after shooting 44.4% from the floor in the first two frames and connecting on 5-of-13 from three-point land. Lesley compiled a field-goal percentage of 36.7% in the opening half to go with 3-of-8 shooting from behind the arc.
The Lions started the third quarter with 12 unanswered points to widen the gap to 55-30 with 5:05 remaining in the period.
Eastern Nazarene owned a 20-point cushion heading into the fourth frame, 62-42.
The guests' advantage swelled to 34 as they netted the first 14 points of the final quarter, 76-42.
The Lions maintained a commanding lead throughout the remainder of the contest en route to their 15th victory of the year.
Eastern Nazarene finished with a field-goal percentage of 47.9% on the afternoon while draining 8-of-22 from beyond the arc. Lesley shot 32.1% from the floor in the game and just 21.4% from three-point distance.
Pereira paced the home side with 20 points while Dakota Jones posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
