BRISTOL, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene women's basketball team dropped an 82-59 decision on the road at Roger Williams Wednesday evening. The Lions fall to 9-8 on the season and 4-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Hawks soar to 11-6 overall and 7-3 in league contests with the win.
Abbie Tonello (Bourne, Mass.) scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to record her first double-double of the year. Senior Mel Green (Annapolis, Md.) finished with 14 points, eight assists and seven boards.
Freshman Katelyn Memory (Kiowa, Colo.) set a new career-high with eight points off the bench as she drained Eastern Nazarene's only two three-pointers on the night. Ace Carradine (Honolulu, Hawaii) chipped in with six points while Kristina Kaczmarek (Chatsworth, Calif.) tallied five points and Tyshay Montgomery (Woodlawn, Md.) hauled in a personal-best five rebounds.
Green netted eight of the visitors' first 10 points of the game as Eastern Nazarene grabbed an early 10-9 lead.
Roger Williams responded with 20 unanswered points to claim a 29-10 advantage with 8:49 remaining in the opening frame.
The Hawks shot 50.0% from the field in the first half to head into the halftime break ahead 45-24.
Green led the Lions with 12 points and four rebounds in the opening 20 minutes of play. Tonello hauled in a team-best nine boards in the first period while adding eight points. Montgomery grabbed a career-high four rebounds in the first half.
Roger Williams maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second stanza and extended its lead to 32 with 6:04 left to play.
Eastern Nazarene trimmed the deficit to 78-58 with 1:18 remaining as Christina Saint-Pierre (Lantana, Fla.) converted a pair of free throws.
The Lions finished the game owning a field-goal percentage of 32.8% while shooting just 18.2% from long range. The Hawks connected on 45.5% of their shot attempts, including 40.0% from behind the arc in the win.
