Women’s Basketball Cruises Past UMaine-Presque Isle, 75-56

Ace Carradine (Honolulu, Hawaii) was one of three players to register 12 points in the contest while adding four assists and four rebounds. Abbie Tonello (Bourne, Mass.) also scored 12 points and hauled in five boards. Rookie Kristina Kaczmarek (Chatsworth, Calif.) netted a dozen points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench.
Freshmen Katelyn Memory (Kiowa, Colo.) and Christina Saint-Pierre (Lantana, Fla.) both came off the bench and tallied seven points. Senior Shardae Brown (Waterbury, Conn.) scored six points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
The visitors kicked off the game with a 13-2 run in the opening 6:47 of play.
Presque Isle sliced the deficit to two points with 6:24 remaining on a pair of free throws by Taylor Cochran, 22-20.
Eastern Nazarene answered with seven-straight points to stretch the gap to 29-20 with 4:04 left to play.
At the half, the Lions owned a 34-25 advantage after shooting 46.9% from the floor.
Carradine led all scorers at the break with 10 points while Tonello contributed with seven points and four rebounds. Brown recorded six points and four boards in the opening frame and Jordan Grays (Elk Grove, Calif.) tacked on five points.
Eastern Nazarene padded its lead to 18 points with 11:43 showing on the clock as Tonello sank a free throw, 52-34.
The Lions pushed the margin to 20 points with less than five minutes left to play on a made jumper by Kaczmarek, 66-46.
The Lions wrapped up the win with a field-goal percentage of 46.9% after replicating their 15-of-32 shooting in the second half. The visitors connected on just 3 of their 12 chances from long distance on the afternoon.
Eastern Nazarene resumes Commonwealth Coast Conference action January 23 with a road tilt at Roger Williams. The Lions boast a 4-5 league mark and topped the Hawks earlier this season 68-57 at home.
