Softball Absorbs Two Losses at Vermont State Lyndon

LYNDONVILLE, Vt.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team dropped a pair of decisions at Vermont State Lyndon Monday afternoon to conclude the 2024 campaign, falling 6-5 and 9-2.

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 5, Vermont State Lyndon 6
Records: Lions (11-24, 4-7 NAC) | Hornets (7-17, 2-7 NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Eastern Nazarene produced three runs in the top of the first inning to establish an early 3-0 advantage.
• The Lions tacked on a run in the second to widen the margin to 4-0.
• Vermont State Lyndon manufactured five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to grab a 5-4 edge.
• Eastern Nazarene plated a run in the top of the seventh to knot the contest at 5-5.
• The Hornets scored once in the home half of the frame to walk-off with a 6-5 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) notched four hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
• Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) tallied two hits, one RBI, and a run scored.
• Faith Bonar (Omaha, Neb.) finished with a pair of base knocks and one RBI.
• Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) tossed six innings while recording two strikeouts and Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) made her 10th relief appearance of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Eastern Nazarene scored twice in the top of the first to claim a 2-0 lead.
• Vermont State Lyndon responded with four runs in the bottom of the first inning to capture a 4-2 advantage.
• The Hornets added a run in the second to stretch the margin to 5-2.
• The home side chalked up one run in the fourth inning to push its lead to 6-2.
• Vermont State Lyndon tallied a run in the bottom of the fifth to extend its advantage to 7-2.
• The Hornets capped off the scoring with a pair of runs in the sixth inning, widening the gap to 9-2.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
