Softball Falls Twice at League-Leading Husson

BANGOR, Maine- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team suffered a pair of setbacks at five-time defending conference champion Husson Sunday, falling 8-0 and 15-5.

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 0, Husson 8
Records: Lions (8-19, 1-4 NAC) | Eagles (19-4, 5-0 NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Husson tallied three runs in the bottom of the first inning to establish a 3-0 lead.
• The home side produced four runs in the fourth to widen the margin to 7-0.
• The Eagles plated one run in the sixth inning to wrap up their 14th win in a row.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) notched a pair of base hits.
• Izabel Pozar (Flagstaff, Ariz.) collected one hit.
• Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) pitched 5.1 innings and recorded four strikeouts.

THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 5, Husson 15
Records: Lions (8-20, 1-5 NAC) | Eagles (20-4, 6-0 NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Husson manufactured five runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 5-0 advantage.
• The Eagles added four runs in the second to stretch their lead to 9-0.
• The hosts tacked on six runs in the third inning to extend the gap to 15-0.
• Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the top of the second inning, scoring a pair of runs to trim the deficit to 15-2. Faith Bonar (Omaha, Neb.) and Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) both crossed the dish.
• The Lions chalked up three runs in the fifth to cap off the scoring. Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) laced a two-out single to centerfield to drive in Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.). Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) roped a single to centerfield to knock in Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) and Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.).

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) finished with two base knocks and a run scored.
