
Softball Trades Wins with Maine-Presque Isle Saturday Night
ORONO, Maine- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team endured a 13-5 loss before triumphing over UMaine-Presque Isle 19-6 Saturday night. With six hits on the evening, graduate student Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) tied Lauren Clements '19 for the program's all-time hits record of 198 career base knocks.
GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 5, Maine-Presque Isle 13

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eastern Nazarene notched a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to seize an early 2-0 lead. Faith Bonar (Omaha, Neb.) roped a single to centerfield to drive in Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.). Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) followed with a base knock to score Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.).
- Maine-Presque Isle answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to level the contest at 2-2.
- The Owls scored three runs in the second to capture a 5-2 advantage.
- The Lions chalked up a run in the third to cut the deficit to 5-3. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) raked a double to left field to knock in Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.).
- Eastern Nazarene plated two runs in the top of the fourth to pull even at 5-5. Lizzie DeRusha (Nashua, N.H.) and Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) both crossed the dish on a base knock by Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.).
- Maine-Presque Isle manufactured seven runs in the home half of the fourth inning to jump ahead 12-5.
- The Owls tacked on a run in the fifth to clinch their first-ever win over the Lions.

Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) landed a two-out single in centerfield to drive in Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.). Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) followed with a double to knock in Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) from third base.
- Maine-Presque Isle produced two runs in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 2-2.
- The Lions generated one run in the third to snag a 3-2 edge. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) laced a double to left-centerfield to plate Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.).
- The Owls scored three times in the home half of the third inning to claim a 5-3 lead.
