Softball Swept at Rhode Island College

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team suffered a pair of setbacks at Rhode Island College Tuesday, falling 8-0 and 9-1.

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 0, Rhode Island College 8

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Rhode Island College tallied a run in the bottom of the first inning to seize a 1-0 lead.
• The Anchorwomen added a run in the second to double their advantage to 2-0.
• The home side tacked on one run in the third inning to widen the gap to 3-0.
• Rhode Island College generated four runs in the fourth to stretch the margin to 7-0.
• The Anchorwomen chalked up a run in the bottom of the fifth to clinch the run-rule victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Izabel Pozar (Flagstaff, Ariz.) collected the Lions' lone hit in the contest.
• Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) pitched 3.2 innings and Faith Bonar (Omaha, Neb.) worked two-thirds of an inning in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Eastern Nazarene plated a run in the top of the first inning to capture a 1-0 lead. Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) crossed the dish as Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) reached on an error.
• Rhode Island College responded with four runs in the bottom of the first to grab a 4-1 advantage.
• The Anchorwomen added two runs in the fourth to push the margin to 6-1.
• Rhode Island College chalked up a run in the fifth to stretch its lead to 7-1.
• The hosts manufactured a pair of runs in the sixth inning to lock up their 18th-straight win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) scored Eastern Nazarene's only run of the game.
• Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) threw 5.1 innings in the pitcher's circle.
