Softball Topped Twice at Lasell, 5-2 & 3-1

NEWTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team dropped a midweek doubleheader at Lasell Wednesday afternoon, falling 5-2 and 3-1.

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 2, Lasell 5
Records: Lions (5-12) | Lasers (7-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Lasell tallied one run in the bottom of the first inning to snag a 1-0 edge.
• The home side added three runs in the second to stretch its advantage to 4-0.
• The Lasers chalked up a run in the fifth to widen the margin to 5-0.
• Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the top of the sixth inning, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 5-2. Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) singled to centerfield to drive in Izabel Pozar (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.).

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) notched two RBIs and one base hit.
• Izabel Pozar (Flagstaff, Ariz.) finished with two hits and one run scored.
• Leah Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) chipped in with one run scored and a stolen base.
• Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) tossed her fifth complete game of the year in the pitcher's circle and recorded one strikeout.

GAME TWO
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 1, Lasell 3
Records: Lions (5-13) | Lasers (8-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Lasers posted three runs in the bottom of the second inning to establish a 3-0 lead.
• Eastern Nazarene plated one run in the fourth to trim the gap to 3-1. Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) crossed the dish on a miscue after a groundout by Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.).

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) collected a pair of hits.
• Izabel Pozar (Flagstaff, Ariz.) landed one base knock while Abby Stansbury (Warren, Ore.) scored one run.
• Cayley McCurdy (Smithfield, R.I.) pitched her first complete game of the spring and finished with four strikeouts.
