Softball Tops Lesley Twice, Delivers Walk-Off Win in Game Two

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team cruised to a 12-1 victory before rallying past Lesley for a 5-4 walk-off win Saturday afternoon at Mitchell/McCoy Field.

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 12, Lesley 1

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Lesley scored one run in the top of the third to seize a 1-0 lead.
• Eastern Nazarene responded with five runs in the bottom of the third to claim a 5-1 advantage. Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) rolled a single up the middle to drive in Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) from second base. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) tagged up and motored home from third on a sacrifice fly by Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.). Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) lashed a double to right field to knock in Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) and Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.). Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) crossed the dish on a sacrifice fly by Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.).
• The Lions manufactured seven runs in the fourth to widen the gap to 12-1. Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) and Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) both notched a pair of RBIs while Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) and Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) each picked up one RBI in the frame.

• The Lynx grabbed a run in the top of the first inning to capture a 1-0 edge.
• Lesley tacked on a run in the third to double its advantage to 2-0.
• The visitors added one run in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 3-0.
• Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 3-2. Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) laced a single to left field to drive in Yaya Bowden (Danbury, Conn.). Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) roped a single to centerfield to knock in Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.).
• Lesley chalked up a run in the seventh to reclaim a two-run lead, 4-2.
• The Lions engineered a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh, tallying three runs to clinch a 5-4 victory. Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) belted a two-run homer to plate Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) and level the contest. After a double by Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.), Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) delivered a base knock up the middle to drive in the game-winning run.
